Job Description

The Staff Bioinformatics Scientist will work in the bioinformatics group to develop computational models for screening products (Shield™) and oncology products such as Guardant360®. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, prototype, and analyze novel statistical/machine learning models for early cancer detection, minimal residual disease detection, and monitoring treatment response.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate and refine product features.
  • Integrate external genomic, epigenomic, and proteomic data with internal data sources.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Provide thorough documentation and reproducible code for analyses.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computational biology/bioinformatics, genomics, machine learning, or a related field with 8+ years of related experience. Proficiency in Python and/or R, statistical models for genomic/epigenomic data, data visualization, and handling large data processes is required.

Preferred qualifications include experience in cancer biology, analyzing public genomic/epigenomic datasets, Linux command-line proficiency, version control (git/GitHub), and familiarity with high-performance computing platforms.

Additional Information

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement requiring on-site presence in Palo Alto or San Diego on designated days. Compensation is competitive with a base salary range based on location and experience. Reasonable accommodations are available during the hiring process.
