About the role
About the Role
The Oncology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a critical field-based position connecting GSK with the healthcare community. This non-promotional role focuses on advancing clinical practice in your assigned territory to improve patient outcomes. You will bring deep clinical and oncology therapeutic expertise, along with market and landscape knowledge, to engage with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and account personnel, aligning with GSK's medical strategies.
Key Objectives
As an MSL, your primary objectives include:
- Engaging with community and academic experts to facilitate scientific exchange.
- Serving as a vital medical resource to ensure HCPs, payers, and decision-makers understand unmet patient needs, the evolving treatment landscape, and the benefit/risk profile of GSK medicines.
- Identifying disease and product-related medical needs.
- Exchanging scientific knowledge and capturing/communicating medical insights.
- Facilitating research to advance clinical practice.
Your Responsibilities
This role offers the opportunity to lead key activities that will advance your career. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leveraging scientific expertise and market knowledge to identify and engage HCPs (including academic and community HCPs, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals) who may have educational needs and can provide valuable insights.
- Engaging with HCPs on emerging data, clinical trials, unmet medical needs, patient access barriers, and market dynamics, while educating on disease states and product information.
- Contributing to medical strategy by collecting and communicating medical insights throughout the product lifecycle.
- Developing and executing strategic territory plans, including identifying, mapping, and planning scientific engagements with key accounts.
- Supporting clinical trials by facilitating relevant medical activities and collaborating with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations colleagues.
- Collaborating with internal teams (Medical Affairs, marketing, commercial, sales) to ensure a customer-centric approach compliant with GSK SOPs.
- Understanding and addressing the unique medical needs and attributes of accounts.
- Maintaining in-depth knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas and GSK medicines, serving as a medical resource to both customers and internal colleagues.
- Adhering to GSK’s Code of Conduct, policies, and standards, ensuring all activities are conducted compliantly and ethically.
- Executing administrative responsibilities, training, and documentation in a timely manner.
- Participating in Field Medical and cross-enterprise projects to support medical strategies and tactics.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must reside within the territory for consideration.
- Doctorate level with a medical or clinical focus (Pharm D, PHD, or MD) OR an advanced science/clinical/healthcare related degree (e.g., MSN, ANP, MS, MPH) with relevant clinical, industry, and/or oncology experience.
- Oncology experience, pharmaceutical industry experience, or medical liaison experience.
- 2+ years of experience in pharmacology and pharmacotherapy in humans, with practical application in an oncology-focused clinical setting.
- Experience engaging in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with medical professionals and decision-makers.
- Experience delivering medical-based presentations.
- Experience identifying opportunities for medical engagement and developing scientific engagement goals.
- Experience developing relationships with external HCPs, KOLs, and external experts, as well as internal stakeholders and key decision-makers.
- Ability to manage a multi-state territory with 60-75% travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous clinical experience with direct/or indirect decision-making authority for patient care (e.g., direct patient care, treatment protocol development, drug therapy guidelines development, traditional clinical pharmacy practice settings).
- Proven track record of consistent, high performance.
- Above average computer literacy (e.g., utilizing AI and digital fluency), including experience with software applications.
