Job Description

About Groupe Dynamite

Groupe Dynamite Inc. (GDI) is a Montreal-based public company, owner of integrated omnichannel brands, designing and distributing accessible, cutting-edge women's clothing since 1975. Our mission, 'Inspiring YOU to be YOURSELF, one outfit at a time,' comes to life through the GARAGE and DYNAMITE banners, reflecting GDI's customer-centric approach, a key element of its long-standing success as a leading North American retailer. Today, GDI operates nearly 300 stores across Canada and the United States, in addition to offering shopping experiences at garageclothing.com and dynamiteclothing.com.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, the Senior E-commerce Director is responsible for driving online sales performance and sustainable growth for Dynamite and Garage. This role acts as a strategic and operational expert for the e-commerce channel, influencing revenue, profitability, and customer acquisition through strong partnership with the Marketing, Merchandising, Acquisition, and Retention teams. This position involves converting business and brand objectives into clear e-commerce growth strategies, influencing traffic, conversion, and retention levers, and ensuring the online channel achieves its full commercial potential. Through an excellent understanding of site performance and factors driving digital demand, you will use data, customer insights, and experimentation to prioritize initiatives that foster sales and customer engagement. This role requires an e-commerce leader with a commercial mindset, capable of acting with strategic clarity and operational rigor, exercising influence without direct responsibility, and inspiring teams and partners to achieve measurable results in a constantly evolving retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Performance & Growth: Develop and execute the e-commerce growth strategy for Dynamite and Garage, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives, brand strategies, and company priorities.
  • Drive online sales performance by influencing key growth levers (traffic, conversion rate, average order value, and retention) using data, insights, and experimentation-based learning approaches.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing and Acquisition teams to influence traffic strategies, channel mix, and campaign priorities, ensuring qualified demand and category-level alignment.
  • Monitor and analyze e-commerce performance using dashboards and KPIs, translating insights into clear recommendations and actions for senior management.
  • Customer Experience, Product & Optimization: Be responsible for the on-site e-commerce experience, including content and merchandising, to maximize conversion and customer engagement.
  • Collaborate with Digital Product teams to develop the e-commerce roadmap and prioritization, finding the right balance between business impact, customer experience improvement, and technical feasibility for both brands.
  • Identify and promote opportunities for experimentation, optimization, and innovation (technical, merchandising, or omnichannel) that enhance the brand's site experience and support sales growth.
  • Leadership, Strategy & Cross-functional Execution: Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Planning, Finance, IT, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure effective initiative execution and a seamless omnichannel customer experience.
  • Clearly communicate e-commerce strategy, performance, and priorities to senior management and key stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding of objectives, trade-offs, and results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, or a related field (MBA or equivalent, an asset).
  • At least 12 years of experience in e-commerce, digital commerce, or performance-focused digital roles, ideally in fashion or multi-category retail.
  • Proven experience in driving online sales growth and improving key e-commerce performance indicators, including traffic, conversion rate, average order value, and customer retention.
  • Excellent understanding of digital demand channels (paid search, natural search (SEO), affiliation, display, email/CRM) and how channel performance, attribution, and funnel dynamics affect revenue.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence revenue, margins, and promotional results through cross-functional partnerships rather than direct ownership.
  • Strong analytical ability, with ease in converting data and insights into clear and actionable business recommendations for senior management.
  • Proven experience in leading people, including building, developing, and directing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with an ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to senior management stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a constantly evolving retail and technology environment, with the ability to quickly adapt priorities and decisions.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required for daily communications with suppliers, employees, and stakeholders, both in Quebec and abroad.
