The Human Resources Business Partner Role

As a Human Resources Business Partner at Granicus, you will be a trusted advisor to key stakeholders on all people-related matters, coaching and developing business teams to achieve strategic outcomes. This influential role involves shaping organizational design and strategy, leading talent management initiatives, and cultivating a culture of high performance and engagement. You will implement talent strategy, support performance management, engage in global HR projects, and provide expertise on HR policies. Collaboration with the broader HR teams is crucial to driving people plans across all functions and regions.

This role supports a global customer base with a strong emphasis on Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Prior experience with this market is highly valued, as you will serve as the subject matter expert on ANZ employment law. The position requires location in the Pacific Time Zone to ensure workday overlap with the ANZ region, with flexibility for occasional evening hours. Key Responsibilities and Impact

  • Leads strategic employee initiatives aligning with business goals across talent management, performance, compensation, training, and culture.
  • Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders (VP+ level), acting as the primary contact for people-related issues like performance management, employee relations, HR investigations, engagement, turnover reduction, talent planning, and exit processes.
  • Applies deep HR knowledge, guiding new or other HRBP team members on policies and practices.
  • Operates independently, identifying and applying solutions to complex business problems.
  • Leads change management projects and manages HR-related internal/external communications within the business unit.
  • Coaches managers on all aspects of people management, including development, disciplinary action, terminations, and engagement, using data and trends.
  • Assists in implementing and refining HR policies, procedures, and programs to maximize usage and create sustainable solutions.
  • Participates in and leads special projects related to global HR processes, utilizing project management skills.
  • Enables high-performing teams by providing people data and metrics to business units regularly.
  • Collaborates with the Talent Acquisition team to align business requirements, culture, and candidates for onboarding and internal mobility.
  • Works with the Learning & Development team to create materials and conduct training programs as needed.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of global legal requirements for employee management, ensuring compliance and reducing legal risks, partnering with legal as required.
  • Ensures company compliance with governmental and labor legal reporting requirements (EEO, AAP, ADA, FMLA, DOL, Worker compensation, etc.).
  • Provides strong customer service to all stakeholders, ensuring HR consistently drives value.
  • Demonstrates the highest levels of integrity when handling confidential information.

What You Bring

  • 3–8 years of experience in an HRBP, HR professional, or equivalent role, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • 3–5 years specifically managing Employee Relations, HR investigations, and sensitive employment situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult and influence senior leaders on strategic HR initiatives.
  • Foundational knowledge of applicable state and federal regulatory requirements, principles, and procedures in human resources (e.g., FMLA, ERISA, FLSA, HIPAA, CFRA, OFCCP).
  • Subject matter expertise in ANZ employment law and experience supporting an ANZ customer base is highly desired.
  • Current HR certification (SPHR, SHRM-CP, CIPD) is a plus, or a desire to attain one.
  • Outstanding relationship-building and interpersonal skills, delivering excellent customer service with a flexible approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and discreetly with highly confidential information.
  • Sound judgment and commercial acumen.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, across all organizational levels.
  • Strong MS Office skills for presentations, data analysis, and written materials.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% to support offices.
