About the Job
As an Executive Chef, Small Ocean Ships, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional gastronomic service for our travelers, adhering to Grand Circle Cruise Line (GCCL) standards, while fostering a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading, coordinating, supporting, motivating, training, and evaluating the galley team.
- Monitoring and ensuring culinary service consistently meets the highest standards.
- Responsible for organizing mise en place, appropriate storage, and diligent keeping of all goods.
- Ensuring hygiene in the galley is maintained in strict accordance with HACCP regulations.
- Actively supporting and assisting both the culinary and restaurant teams.
- Responsible for ordering food, as well as managing stock, cost, and budget control.
- Participating in onboard events and engaging positively with guests.
- Performing any other duties as advised by the Corporate Chef or Hotel Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
- At least 2 years of relevant job experience, preferably gained on passenger ships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage an international staff in a positive and productive manner.
- Possession of a friendly and energetic attitude.
- Proven leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a track record of achieving the highest level of service and quality.
- Extensive knowledge of food handling procedures with regard to public health standards.
- Fluency in English is required.
- For non-European candidates, a visa might be required based on the embarkation port.
- Must possess a valid Seaman book.
- Required certificates (at the expense of the employee): Basic Safety Training (STCW Code VI/1), Security Awareness Training (STCW Code VI/6-1), Passenger Ship Safety (STCW Code V/2), Ship Cook’s certificate (a requirement by MLC 2006), and Yellow fever vaccination.
