Overview
Grafana Labs, a remote-first open-source powerhouse with over 20M users, is seeking a Backend Engineer, Observability Ingest. This role focuses on streamlining the transport of Metrics, Logs, Traces and Profiles to Grafana Cloud and OSS tools by delivering reliable, scalable ingestion pipelines.
The Opportunity
You will work on key components including Fleet Management, Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Chart, and the Frontend Observability ingestion pipeline. Collaborate with various teams and open source communities to tailor the delivery of Observability signals.
Projects and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain essential systems ensuring performance and availability
- Lead projects from concept to implementation including ongoing support
- Actively contribute to open source projects like Grafana Alloy and OpenTelemetry Collector
- Support on-call rotation and mentor team members
What Makes a Great Fit
We value a motivated self-starter with strong collaboration, a passion for intuitive product design, and solid experience in programming (Go, Python, C/C++, or Rust). Prior exposure to cloud systems, on-call operations, and Kubernetes is essential. Excellent communication skills in a remote environment are a must.
Compensation & Benefits
In Canada, the base compensation range is CAD 120,000 to 151,000. Roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), global remote culture, career growth, and additional benefits like generous leave policies and in-person onboarding.
