About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Solutions Delivery, the Security Analyst is responsible for developing and assisting in the distribution of Government of Nunavut security policies and guidelines, as well as remaining informed on trends and issues within the security industry, including current and emerging technologies. The Security Analyst is responsible for the design, architecture, testing, optimization and administration of security hardware and software solutions within the solutions delivery network environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Security Analyst contributes to the establishment of corporate-wide security management programs and solutions to ensure government information and assets are protected. This position is responsible for the installation, configuration, optimization, testing and administration of hardware and software security solutions within the solutions delivery environment. The incumbent analyzes budget implications and technical requirements associated with implementing new security solutions or the upgrade and enhancement of existing security solutions and develops capital planning forecasts and related financial project documentation.

Qualifications

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through:

  • A recognized diploma in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or related Engineering program.
  • Four (4) years of recent experience in a large (over 2000 users’ network) complex enterprise-wide networks with diverse solutions from multiple vendors.
  • Three (3) years of progressive experience in IM/IT security solutions support in a medium to large enterprise or Government network environment.
  • Experience in firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, penetration/vulnerability testing and other industry standard security techniques and practices.

Current vendor certifications such as GIAC (security essentials and leadership certifications), ISACA, SCCP, CISSP, ISSAP, MCSE Security are considered assets. Experience in project and contract administration within an enterprise level IM/IT environment is also an asset. Exposure to satellite networks is a plus.

This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

As this is a term position until March 2029, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval.
