Mechanical Engineer

Gordon M. Buitendorp Associates, Inc. (GMB) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our project teams. The role focuses on providing expertise and leadership in mechanical project design including code compliance, specifications, system integration, and constructability. The candidate should have a passion for educational design and at least 7 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project team meetings and construction meetings.
  • Build collaborative relationships with various disciplines.
  • Prepare building models, detailed construction documents, load analysis, equipment and ductwork sizing, hydronic system design, and specifications.
  • Develop expertise in complex and high efficiency mechanical systems.
  • Communicate regularly with Project Managers and team members to adjust to design changes, scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Create and maintain trust with clients regarding your mechanical expertise.

Knowledge & Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program and 7+ years of relevant experience are required. The role demands advanced professional concepts to resolve complex issues, guide junior team members, and coordinate multidisciplinary projects. Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, mechanical standards, building codes, and proficiency in MS Office (including Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential.

Preferred Skills:

  • Pursuing licensure or a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) status.
  • Experience using Autodesk Revit for mechanical design documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information:

This is a direct hire, full time position. Salary will be commensurate with experience along with an excellent benefits package.
