About the UX Designer, Google Vids Role at Google

The Google User Experience (UX) team is a multidisciplinary group comprising UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers, all deeply committed to understanding and serving our users. Our team plays a vital role in gathering insights into user attitudes, emotions, and behaviors to inform and inspire design. We collaborate closely across design, engineering, and product management to develop industry-leading products that deliver significant value to both our users and Google's business objectives.
In this Interaction Designer role, you will apply user-centered design methodologies to craft industry-leading user experiences, from initial concept to final execution. You will collaborate with design partners to leverage and evolve Google's design language, creating beautiful, innovative, and beloved products.
The Opportunity: Shaping AI-First Video Creation
We are seeking an energized UX Designer, Google Vids to join the team building Workspace’s AI-first video creation tool. You will be pivotal in defining how users interact with advanced models like Veo, empowering them with professional filmmaking capabilities within a familiar and user-friendly product.
Artificial Intelligence is set to profoundly change the future of work, and our products—Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Vids, and Meet—are at the forefront of this transformation. From pre-computed email summaries to meeting summaries and videos generated from documents using lifelike AI avatars, our AI opportunities are immense. Our mission is to meaningfully connect people, enabling them to create, build, and grow together. As part of this team, you will shape the future of productivity tools for the next 5-10 years, working alongside model builders from Google DeepMind and exceptional leaders, with the ability to impact billions of users worldwide.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 year of interaction design experience in product design or UX Design.
- Experience with industry standard design tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InVisio, Figma, Principle, etc.).
- Experience in visual or motion design.
- Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience contributing to design projects.
- Experience in video editing and production.
- Experience with Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools.
- Experience with consumer or professional creative suites centered around generative media (especially those focused on video).
- Knowledge of video trends both for professional or social media contexts.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, engineers, researchers and other cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
- Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups or high fidelity prototypes.
- Integrate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience updates.
- Advocate for the prioritization of design centered changes, refinements, and improvements.
- Translate AI-centered creation into a seamless user experience, enabling ordinary people to easily navigate and collaborate with AI’s non-deterministic outputs.
