About the Technical Program Manager, Network Deployment Optimization, Cloud Networking Role at Google
As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will leverage your technical expertise to lead intricate, cross-functional projects from inception to completion. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to define requirements, identify risks, manage project timelines, and ensure transparent communication with partners across the company. You will be comfortable presenting analyses and recommendations to executives while also engaging in detailed technical discussions with engineers regarding product development tradeoffs.
The Data Center Networks team, composed of Technical Program Managers (TPgMs) and Network Implementation Engineers, is responsible for delivering data center networks across Google's owned and third-party data centers.
In this position, you will oversee networking projects ranging from new data center constructions and expansions to NPI pilots and infrastructure decommissioning. Your responsibilities include managing physical infrastructure deployments and proactively mitigating risks to keep projects on schedule. Concurrently, you will coordinate with software teams for the deployment and installation of network elements into production. A key aspect of your role will be enhancing delivery processes and efficiency, ensuring Google's capability to deliver faster and more effectively.
The Technical Infrastructure team designs and maintains the foundational architecture that supports all Google products. From developing data centers to building next-generation platforms, we are integral to Google's product portfolio, committed to ensuring the best and fastest user experience by keeping our networks robust and operational.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 year of experience in program or project management.
- Experience with data center or networking deployments.
- Experience working with data analytics tools and reporting platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in vendor management.
- Experience with network planning and engineering, including data center network engineering in complex environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver optimized program communication plans, including communications for executives and key partners.
- Determine phasing and metrics for the program lifecycle to drive continuous improvement, including effective deployment of machine and human resources across objectives.
- Determine and collect necessary data to govern programs and facilitate stakeholder decision-making.
- Anticipate change management requirements for program stakeholders to ensure seamless transitions.
- Build trusted relationships with program stakeholders and manage expectations of executive cross-functional leads, providing essential insights for effective decisions.
