Job Description

About the Role: Technical Program Manager III, Security and Data Protection, Core

As a Technical Program Manager III, Security and Data Protection, Core at Google, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. This critical role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to define requirements, identify potential risks, manage project timelines, and ensure clear communication with cross-functional partners across the entire company. You will be equally adept at presenting your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are at engaging with engineers to discuss technical tradeoffs in product development.

A core responsibility will be to spearhead Google's defense against emerging threats, attacks, and future vulnerabilities to data integrity and identity, particularly those arising from quantum computing advancements. This includes leading the migration of existing products and fleet to quantum-safe algorithms. You will foster strategic partnerships with teams across Alphabet, including Chrome, Cloud, Waymo, and Pixel, to transform cryptographic research into scaled execution, positioning Google as an industry leader in post-quantum cryptography solutions.

About the Core Team

The Core team is responsible for building the foundational technical elements that underpin Google’s flagship products. We act as owners and advocates for the underlying design principles, developer platforms, product components, and robust infrastructure within Google. These elements are the essential building blocks for delivering excellent, secure, and cohesive experiences for our users, and they accelerate the pace of innovation for every developer. Our mandate involves examining Google’s diverse product landscape to develop centralized solutions, dismantle technical barriers, and fortify existing systems. As part of the Core team, you will have a unique and significant opportunity to influence vital technical decisions across the entire company.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate extensively with team members and stakeholders to understand or identify defined work problems and program goals, secure prioritized deliverables, and discuss program impact.
  • Independently prioritize program goals, translate stakeholder needs into program objectives and prioritized deliverables with minimal guidance, and contribute significantly to decisions regarding goal and deliverable prioritization.
  • Define the precise scope of projects and meticulously develop, execute, or manage comprehensive project plans for all supported programs.
  • Regularly review key metrics relevant to a program, diligently monitor for any potential metric deviations, and proactively define and implement corrective actions for critical deviations.
  • Identify, communicate effectively with, and foster collaboration among relevant stakeholders within one or more teams to maximize impact and work cohesively towards mutual goals.
  • Build, meticulously maintain, and continuously enhance business, operational, and management dashboards to provide clear insights.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience managing programs related to cryptography, security, or infrastructure.
  • Experience leading change management initiatives for technical deployments.
