About the role
Technical Program Manager Environmental and Energy Management
At Google, we build products that help create opportunities for everyone. As a Technical Program Manager, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Google Data Centers (GDC) operates one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures on the planet. The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program enables compliance and safety excellence in design, construction, commissioning, deployment, and operations of Google-owned and third-party data centers at scale.
As a member of the GDC Compliance, Strategy, and Risk Management (CSRM) Environmental team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental and energy management systems across GDC teams in the Americas region in compliance with regulatory requirements. You will play a critical part in working collaboratively with a cross-functional team across Google Cloud to identify programmatic gaps, develop and execute environmental campaigns, programs, and procedures to protect Google’s interests. You will also provide program leadership and oversight to new and critical environmental initiatives to continue to create and iterate our EHS program.
Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, promote, and maintain a conforming environmental and energy management system (EEMS) aligned to relevant ISO standards, including procedures and an associated knowledge database encompassing all GDC operating models and considering the full data center lifecycle.
- Manage conformance, certification, and associated continual improvements against global and regional Environmental Management Systems and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 50001, Energy Star) by engaging with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and evaluate data center environmental and energy risks for business impact from cradle to grave and design/lead programs to mitigate those risks.
- Investigate and analyze environmental incident reports and recommend global measures/programs to prevent recurrence.
- Develop appropriate communications and training/awareness for employees and contractors whose work impacts the EEMS at the data centers.
