About the Job
At Google, solving a problem means solving it for everyone. As a Technical Program Manager, Data Center Design, you will leverage your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and ensure clear communication with cross-functional partners across the company. This role requires comfort in explaining team analyses and recommendations to executives, as well as discussing technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
You will independently manage the full lifecycle of programs, potentially extending beyond your immediate team. This involves leading, organizing, and managing program activities to drive business outcomes, while also developing systems for proactive identification of improvements and future optimizations, including change management and performance metrics.
The Data Center team at Google designs and operates some of the world's most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems. We are a dynamic, creative, team-oriented group of engineers dedicated to building and operating powerful data centers.
Responsibilities
- Define and address undefined cross-functional challenges independently, utilizing existing protocols and program management methodologies to successfully monitor and manage programs and stakeholders.
- Effectively adjust programs while navigating changing circumstances across multiple functional areas.
- Manage the expectations of cross-functional stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering; Architecture; Construction Management; or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in program management.
- Experience in task prioritization, planning, scheduling, and achieving objectives on schedule to the required quality within a budget.
- Experience managing data center design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering; Architecture; Construction Management; or a related technical field.
- PE License, RA License, Chartered Engineer License, or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
