Job Description

Technical Operations Engineer

As a Technical Operations Engineer within Google's IT Support Technician team, your mission is to enable the people and technology that keep Google running. This role provides front-line user support for all internal tools and technologies. Beyond daily support, the team contributes to longer-term technical projects, process improvement, and documentation efforts that are crucial to Google's operations.

Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap: the convergence of AI and XR. This involves reimagining interactions with the world, building a future where lightweight XR devices pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

Please note: This role is not eligible for U.S. immigration sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in system administration.
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python or Go).
  • Experience in managing operating system environments (e.g., Linux).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in pipeline management, Docker, GKE networking, data center operations, and storage servers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a heterogeneous fleet of servers (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu and operating system server 2016/2019/2022/2025).
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on kernel panics, memory leaks, and I/O bottlenecks.
  • Architect and support Google Cloud Platform resources (Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage).
  • Lead the transition from manual configuration to infrastructure as code.
  • Integrate Ansible workflows with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins or Cloud Build) to automate the testing and deployment of infrastructure changes.
  • Manage and troubleshoot synchronization between multiple identity providers, including bridging Active Directory, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol/Red Hat Identity Management, and Google Cloud Identity.
