About the Role
As a Technical Lead Manager for YouTube at Google, you will combine your technical expertise with strong leadership to guide a team of engineers, manage significant projects, and contribute to product strategy. This role involves optimizing code, ensuring team members can optimize theirs, and overseeing large-scale deployments internationally. You will work on cutting-edge problems in areas like information retrieval, AI, natural language processing, and large-scale system design, all while operating with Google’s characteristic scale and speed.
Google Ads powers the open internet by connecting people, publishers, and advertisers. This role contributes to building Google’s Advertising products, including search, display, shopping, travel, and video advertising, ensuring trusted experiences and delivering measurable results for businesses and YouTube creators.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, or CSS.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex organization.
Responsibilities
- Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals.
- Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
- Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role, aligned to broader organization goals.
- Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, providing feedback and coaching.
- Develop the mid-term technical goal and roadmap within the scope of our teams, evolving it to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
- Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
