Overview
At Google, the Systems Development Engineer, Edge Networking role focuses on maintaining operational health, automating systems, and enhancing capacity on a global scale. This position is central to delivering reliability for Google’s content delivery and compute infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Linux machines worldwide ensuring system reliability.
- Collaborate with partner ISPs for remote troubleshooting and IP networking support.
- Automate and improve support projects and onboard new hardware/services.
- Work closely with engineering teams, hardware vendors, product managers, and partners.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; 3 years in systems automation and design; strong knowledge in TCP/IP, PXE boot, Subnets, VLANs, LACP, DNS, SSH, etc.
Preferred: Experience in coding/automation with languages like Go, Javascript, Python; understanding of Linux/Unix administration; familiarity with BGP routing topologies and front-end development; strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
