About The Role: Strategy Associate, YouTube
The YouTube Strategy, Analytics, and Finance team aims to make YouTube more valuable by identifying and steering the business toward significant opportunities, guiding the organization in making optimal decisions, and enabling effective implementation through proactive and trusted risk management. Within this group, the Strategy team functions as a dedicated internal management consulting unit, driving high-impact projects directly commissioned by YouTube's executive leadership.
This team spearheads projects that generate recommendations on YouTube’s major new trends, opportunities, and challenges. This includes navigating the rise of generative AI and short-form video, analyzing new business avenues like shopping, capturing growth in subscriptions, and responsibly managing the health of the creator and partner ecosystem, among other critical areas.
As a Strategy Associate, you will advance our team’s initiatives under the guidance of principals and directors. This involves applying critical thinking, researching user, creator, and participant trends, analyzing data, and synthesizing recommendations on major business decisions. Your contributions will inform key business decisions and catalyze successful launches with various cross-functional teams. You will collaborate with leadership and work with colleagues across functions, including YouTube's Product, Business, Engineering, Partnerships, Marketing, and Sales teams.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $118,000-$170,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay within the range is influenced by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can provide more specific salary details for your preferred location during the hiring process. Compensation details reflect base salary only, not including bonus, equity, or benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Physics) or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in management consulting or other equivalent business strategy experience.
- Experience in analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial modeling, SQL, and data visualization.
- Experience in tech or media industries.
- Experience communicating and influencing a range of audiences, including executives.
- Ability to impact large-scale strategic initiatives and exceptional business judgment.
- Excellent problem-solving, investigative, and presentation skills.
Responsibilities

- Perform quantitative analysis (e.g., sophisticated financial modeling, SQL queries) and qualitative analysis (e.g., analyzing key trends).
