Staff Software Engineer, Network Security

Join the Google Cloud Networking Security team in Bangalore, where we build and operate some of the largest-scale network security services on the planet. You will be responsible for protecting Google Cloud customers from a wide array of threats. Our product portfolio includes industry-leading solutions like Google Cloud Armor, Network Threat Intelligence (NTI), and Next Generation Firewall Enterprise (NGFWE).

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- Experience with network security, large scale distributed systems, cloud, and system architecture.
- Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
- Experience in a technical leadership role, including experience managing software engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS) and network security principles (e.g., DDoS mitigation, WAF, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, threat intelligence).
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the technical strategy, architecture, and road map for significant areas within Cloud Armor, Network Threat Intelligence, and NGFWE.
- Lead ideation and implementation of AI/ML features and capabilities to enhance threat detection, automate responses, and improve the efficacy of network security products.
- Collaborate closely with other teams (both local and global) to deliver robust, scalable, and customer-focused security solutions.
- Provide technical guidance, review designs and code, and ensure the team adheres to best practices in software development, security, reliability, and the ethical application of AI.
- Lead, mentor the technical talent in the team, fostering a culture of innovation, engineering excellence, collaboration.
