Overview
Google is seeking a Staff Privacy Engineer for Google Ads. In this role, you will build privacy into products from the ground up and define technical privacy strategies for entire product areas. You will work with product management and engineering leadership to anticipate needs and design scalable systems that protect user data while supporting business growth.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; 7 years’ experience in a privacy-related field; 7 years’ experience translating product roadmaps and regulatory requirements into engineering strategies; 2 years’ experience with privacy technologies; 2 years’ experience leading technical projects.
Preferred qualifications: Master's or PhD in a related field; expertise in privacy-enhancing technologies, data governance, and AI/ML; ability to anticipate and address future privacy challenges.
About the Role
As a Staff Privacy Engineer, you will architect trust by designing privacy systems and guardrails integrated into Google Ads products. Your responsibilities include leading privacy design for complex systems, acting as a bridge between legal, product, and engineering teams, and mentoring junior engineers. You will ensure compliance with privacy-by-design principles while enabling business innovation.

Compensation & Benefits
The US base salary range is $197,000-$291,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Compensation is based on role, level, work location, and other factors.
