Staff Content Designer XR

Google is looking for a Staff Content Designer to shape users’ emerging mental models and adoption of our XR products. This role involves leading content design strategy across a portfolio of XR devices and experiences, including immersive headsets and glasses. You will be at the forefront of the next major leap in computing – the convergence of AI and XR, reimagining how we interact with the world.

About the Role

As a Staff Content Designer, you will play a crucial role in developing content design strategy and UX writing guidelines for new and complex product spaces. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge XR technology, contributing to a future where lightweight XR devices pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead content design and UX writing across the XR portfolio, an emerging and fast-developing space with new paradigms of user interaction.
  • Develop content design strategy for the full spectrum of XR devices and experiences, from immersive headsets to everyday wear Glasses.
  • Gain a deep understanding of user needs, product behaviors, and constraints.
  • Partner across UX, UX Design, Visual Design, UX Experience, UX Research, Product Management, and Engineering to implement content design, delivering polished, high-quality UX writing across the ecosystem.
  • Collaborate cross-product area on content design for first-party app experiences to ensure a consistent approach across the ecosystem.
  • Elevate content design and UX writing craft within the organization.
  • Develop and manage content design and UX writing processes and workflows.
  • Support the development of narrative for key XR public moments and launches.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in UX writing, content design, technical writing, writing, editorial, or related fields, including leading content strategy projects.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing content design strategy and UX writing guidelines for new or complex product spaces.
  • Experience partnering closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with XR/AR/VR.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Compensation

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $171,000-$248,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and factors such as job-related skills, experience, and education.
