About the Senior Technical Program Manager, Core Role at Google
As a Senior Technical Program Manager, Core at Google, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to spearhead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. This role involves critical engagement with stakeholders to define requirements, identify potential risks, meticulously manage project timelines, and ensure transparent communication with cross-functional teams across the entire company. The Core team is fundamental to Google's success, building the foundational technology that underpins Google’s flagship products. This includes taking ownership of underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and the vast infrastructure that powers Google. These essential building blocks are crucial for delivering excellent, safe, and coherent user experiences and accelerating innovation for all developers. The team's mandate extends across Google's diverse product ecosystem, focusing on developing central solutions, dismantling technical barriers, and fortifying existing systems. As a member of the Core team, you will have a unique opportunity to significantly influence key technical decisions company-wide.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of technical program management work experience.
- 10 years of experience managing complex cross-functional or cross-team projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to exercise technical judgment and influence team members in solving software engineering challenges.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a highly credible thought leader within Google and the industry regarding the subject matter domain of the respective organization.
- Establish a reliable and visible cadence for portfolio reviews, decision making, prioritization, and resource management, ensuring measurable improvements and organization-wide impact.
- Drive measurable program performance gains directly correlated to execution velocity.
- Act as a change advocate, responsible for initiating and guiding multiple organizations through necessary pivots to address shifts in business trends and priorities.
- Lead the strategic planning framework for a complex program portfolio, including direct influence over resourcing decisions, planning cadence, and planning stakeholders.
