Job Description

About Google

At Google, a problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.

About The Role: Senior Technical Program Manager, Core

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, Core at Google, you will leverage your extensive technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to meticulously plan requirements, proactively identify potential risks, effectively manage project schedules, and ensure clear communication with cross-functional partners throughout the organization. This role requires comfort in discussing technical trade-offs in product development with engineers, as well as confidently presenting analyses and recommendations to executives.

The Core team is responsible for constructing the fundamental technical foundation underpinning Google’s flagship products. We are the owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, critical developer platforms, essential product components, and robust infrastructure at Google. These elements serve as the indispensable building blocks for delivering excellent, safe, and coherent user experiences, while also driving the pace of innovation for every developer. Our mandate includes examining Google’s diverse product landscape to architect central solutions, dismantle technical barriers, and fortify existing systems. As part of the Core team, you will have a unique opportunity to significantly influence important technical decisions across the entire company.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of technical program management work experience.
  • 10 years of experience managing complex cross-functional or cross-team projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to exercise strong technical judgment and effectively influence team members in solving complex software engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a highly credible thought leader within Google and the broader industry for the subject matter domain of your respective organization.
  • Establish a reliable and visible cadence for portfolio reviews, critical decision-making processes, prioritization, and effective resource management, ensuring measurable improvements and organization-wide impact.
  • Drive significant and measurable program performance gains directly correlated to execution velocity.
  • Serve as a change advocate, responsible for initiating and guiding multiple organizations through necessary pivots to address shifts in business trends and priorities.
  • Lead the strategic planning framework for a complex program portfolio, including direct influence over resourcing decisions, planning cadence, and key planning stakeholders.
