About the Senior Engineering Analyst, AdSpam Trust and Safety Role at Google

Google's brand relies on user trust, ensuring online safety by combating web abuse and fraud across products like Search, Maps, and AdSense. As a Senior Engineering Analyst, AdSpam Trust and Safety, you will play a critical role in defending the integrity of Google, its users, and partners globally. This position involves defining and communicating product policies, and actively fighting spam, fraud, and abuse.

The Trust and Safety Ad Traffic Quality team is dedicated to making the ads ecosystem universally trusted and protected from invalid traffic. You will analyze events and develop scalable methods to thwart motivated fraudsters, contributing to a safe and useful internet for users, advertisers, publishers, and Google.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced statistical methods to complex data sets to analyze the impact of abuse on the Mobile ads ecosystem.
  • Perform fraud and spam investigations using various data sources, identify product vulnerabilities, and drive anti-abuse experiments to prevent abuse.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to enhance workflows through process improvements, automation, and anti-abuse system creation.
  • Work directly with Product, Engineering, and Trust and Safety teams to prevent abuse by changing policies and closing product loopholes.
  • Lead and conduct complex fraud investigations using data, identify gaps in current defenses, explore/experiment with new signals, and develop solutions for scalable enforcement on non-compliant publisher inventory, with a focus on Android.
  • Be able to review or be exposed to sensitive content.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 5 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • 5 years of experience with Python, R or SQL.
  • 3 years of experience in the application of ML/AI, including GenAI solutions.
  • Experience with fraud, abuse detection or risk management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the digital advertising industry in a technical role.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts with cross-regional and cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.
