About the Security Consultant Role at Google

As a Security Consultant, you will play a crucial role in empowering organizations across more than 200 countries to leverage Google’s enterprise-grade solutions, solve critical business problems, and accelerate their digital transformation journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Lead consulting engagements, from initial requirements analysis to final deliverable development, ensuring results align with client needs and risk profiles.
  • Provide expert guidance on establishing or enhancing cybersecurity programs and implementing advanced enterprise security technologies.
  • Offer strategic advice on best practices for managing cybersecurity risks during digital transformation initiatives, including cloud adoption, DevOps, containerization, microservices, and zero trust architectures.
  • Conduct thorough security reviews and maturity assessments across technology and business teams, identifying cyber risks and providing actionable recommendations to clients.
  • Collaborate and lead architecture discussions with other engineering teams to integrate security best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in information security or IT risk management, focusing on security, performance, and reliability.
  • Proficiency with security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and overall security principles.
  • Practical experience implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management, or similar technologies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with personnel, explaining and enforcing complex security measures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a Google Cloud Security Engineer.
  • Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH).
  • Experience with cloud computing concepts and the application of security controls within cloud-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure, operating system, and application vulnerabilities, security architecture, and controls.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the current cyber threat landscape.
