About the Program Manager Role at Google
As a Program Manager at Google, you will be instrumental in leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to define requirements, manage project timelines, identify and mitigate risks, and maintain clear communication with cross-functional partners across the globe. Your projects will often span multiple offices, time zones, and hemispheres, requiring exceptional coordination and consistent progress updates to all parties.
Specifically, you will oversee multiple data center campuses, driving the efficient delivery of Google’s Data Center Portfolio. This includes direct engagement in commercial discussions regarding Main/Sub agreements for cost alignment and implementing cost/schedule optimization into procurement awards. You will collaborate extensively with Google Data Center (GDC) Partner Teams and Engineering Groups, supporting the delivery and management of Google's Capital Expenditure program. A key part of this involves leading procurement and agreements teams in the assessment and awarding of key suppliers and subcontractors for GDC builds across North America. Your efforts in cost planning and cost management for these campuses will ensure best value and impact, as you lead cost management implementation with General Contractors and Managed Service Suppliers. Additionally, you will spearhead initiatives for continuous improvement in cost management, focusing on commercial optimization, and work directly with project teams to support the setup, training, execution, and assurance of project and cost control.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Industrial Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in data center construction, leading cost management, project controls, or cost estimation.
- 5 years of experience working with multinational and dynamic technical construction programs/projects.
- Experience with cost management, cost planning and estimation, negotiation, and project procurement.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in data center construction.
Responsibilities
- Drive the efficient delivery of Google’s Data Center Portfolio through direct engagement in commercial agreements with GC/Sub Contracts, ensuring cost alignment and driving cost/schedule optimization into procurement awards.
