Job Description

About the Job

As a Product Marketing Manager on the Developer Marketing team for Google Cloud, you will be at the forefront of the dramatic shift in how applications are developed, published, and distributed. You will drive awareness, adoption, and usage of Google Cloud products among developers. You are a technical marketer or developer advocate who can bridge the gap between product engineering and the developer community. You don't just market products; you build with them, create narratives that resonate with skeptical technical audiences, and prioritize technical utility and trust.

You will be responsible for defining the marketing strategy, crafting compelling messaging, and creating content that resonates with developers and helps them succeed with certain Google Cloud products. You will be in a highly collaborative position that requires an understanding of the developer audience and the ability to translate technical features into clear, benefit-driven value propositions. You will have project management skills that are needed to orchestrate marketing execution across campaigns, social media, customer programs, events, and more.

Know the user. Know the magic. Connect the two. At its core, marketing at Google starts with technology and ends with the user, bringing both together in unconventional ways. Our job is to demonstrate how Google's products solve the world's problems--from the everyday to the epic, from the mundane to the monumental. And we approach marketing in a way that only Google can--changing the game, redefining the medium, making the user the priority, and ultimately, letting the technology speak for itself.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute go-to-market strategies to increase adoption of Google Cloud products among developers, including positioning, messaging, and most effective channels for reaching developers.
  • Create marketing campaigns to drive awareness and product usage; build assets for social, blogs, events, etc. that resonate with developers.
  • Work cross-functionally to build launch strategies for new products, execute these strategies, and ensure products are positioned effectively.
  • Build narratives and content for key events, such as Cloud Next and Google I/O, working with other Google developer marketing teams.
  • Understand the full scope of developers’ needs, market trends, and the engaged landscape. Become a domain expert, with in-depth knowledge of how developers use certain products.
  • Design and build technical demos, tutorials, and experiences that help developers overcome adoption blockers.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in product marketing for a technical product, with a focus on marketing software to developers.
  • Experience in the developer ecosystem.
  • Experience creating product narratives for a technical audience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in Developer Relations (DevRel), Technical Advocacy, or Software Engineering, with a proven track record of creating content for a highly technical audience.
  • Knowledge of AI and ML, with a potential focus on generative AI, along with an understanding of the unique needs of the developer audience.
  • Ability to operate in a rapidly changing industry and solve problems.
  • Ability to leverage technical and business acumen to interface with teams at all levels, including engineering, product, and marketing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize, and meet critical deadlines.
