Overview

Google is seeking a Network Operations Manager to oversee global network operations. The role demands leadership in telecom operations at carrier scale with an emphasis on optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers, and data services.

Key Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 6 years experience in telecommunications at carrier scale.
• 3 years leadership or management experience supervising NOC engineers and technicians.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6 years experience in telecommunications, OSP, ISP, AC/DC power systems, and relay rack construction.
• Experience with developing and enforcing SOPs, runbooks, and escalation policies.
• Proficiency in capacity planning, performance monitoring, and SLA reporting.
• Understanding of cloud computing, Linux server environments, network design/deployment.
• Strong grasp on network protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF.
• Excellent communication skills for executive and technical updates.

About the Role

This role places you at the forefront of managing global network operations at Google. You will lead a team of Network Operations Engineers, manage operational events, maintain service levels, and proactively identify and mitigate network issues to ensure reliable service for millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the team of Network Operations Engineers.
• Set priorities aligned with organizational goals and communicate them effectively.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leadership and act as liaison for stakeholders.
• Identify key performance metrics and report performance to management.
• Manage network and customer escalations to drive efficient problem resolution.
