About the Network Implementation Engineer Role at Google
As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of deploying, maintaining, and operating Google's private data networks worldwide. This critical role involves collaboration with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers, as well as external construction and telecommunications vendors. Your work will directly contribute to building the world's most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network, supporting millions of Internet users globally.
Google's network team manages the full lifecycle of all space, power, and network assets across Google’s global data centers and metro points of presence. From initial site acquisition and construction to architectural design, installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning, our team ensures the seamless operation of our vast network infrastructure.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
- Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, Layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
Responsibilities:
- Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale.
- Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide.
- Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low.
- Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues.
- Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans.
