About the Engineering Analyst, Trust and Safety Role

Trust & Safety team members at Google are dedicated to identifying and resolving the most significant challenges impacting the safety and integrity of Google's products. This role leverages technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving abilities, user insights, and proactive communication to safeguard users and partners from abuse across Google services like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. As an Engineering Analyst, Trust and Safety, you will be a strategic team player, focused on doing what's right, and working globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to combat abuse and fraud with urgency. You will contribute to promoting trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

The Trust and Safety Workspace Mission aims to empower Workspace and Cloud to protect their products, fostering a safe, secure, and trusted experience for both enterprises and consumers. In this position, you will develop actionable insights on abuse trends and build a robust framework for managing various Trust and Safety escalations across Workspace. Your work will streamline related processes, ensuring a safer Workspace experience for all users. You will act as a crucial partner, uniting teams to tackle critical abuse problems and working across Google and the broader industry to identify, quantify, and address these issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 5 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • 5 years of experience with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, or C++.
  • 5 years of experience with machine learning systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze abuse challenges and escalations, uncovering underlying exploited vulnerabilities or tactics used by abusive actors.
  • Lead efforts to produce actionable insights on abuse trends for product and cross-functional partners.
  • Establish a strong foundation for handling and streamlining various Trust and Safety escalations across Workspace. Develop partnerships with internal and external groups to channel abuse feedback back into the system.
  • Work with cross-functional teams throughout the company on developing strategies and ensuring a clear understanding of abuse challenges.
  • Conduct analysis that includes data gathering and requirement specification, processing, analysis documents, and engaging presentations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Managers, Program Managers, and Data Scientists to qualify and quantify abuse challenges and trends across Workspace products.
  • Quantify impact of abuse problems and highlight cross-functional anti-abuse teams’ impact internally and externally to build awareness of protections and best practices.
