About the Role

The Engineering Analyst, Search Anti-scraper at Google is responsible for investigating and analyzing patterns of abuse on Google Search. This role combines data-driven insights with engineering collaboration to develop anti-scraper rules, models, and security enhancements that protect billions of users worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and analyze abuse patterns and trends using large datasets.
  • Develop key metrics to evaluate anti-scraping defenses.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design, test, and launch improvements.
  • Research proof-of-concept attacks and suggest countermeasures.
  • Contribute to machine learning signal development for detecting abusive behavior.
  • Maintain threat intelligence on scraper actors and tactics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis.
  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering).
  • 3 years of experience in data-intensive roles like threat intelligence, trust and safety, or fraud analysis.
  • Experience with threat intelligence, anti-abuse, security, network analysis, fraud detection, and SEO.
  • Proficiency in SQL, JavaScript, Python, or C++.

Compensation

The US base salary range for this full-time role is $126,000-$181,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. The precise salary is determined based on work location, skills, experience, and education.
