About the Role: Director of Engineering, Storage Infrastructure and Instances at Google

We are the foundational team behind Google and Google Cloud’s compute and AI/ML offerings, managing underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and critical infrastructure.

Google Compute Engine (GCE) provides a comprehensive suite of VM and Baremetal instances tailored for general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and GPU/TPU-Accelerated workloads. GCE serves businesses of all sizes, from startups to large enterprises, supporting AI/ML, cloud-native, and mission-critical applications. We collaborate closely with hardware partners and Google’s engineering teams to integrate the latest advancements in CPU (x86/ARM), storage, network, and GPU/TPU virtualization, all fortified by robust security, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for delivering the overall strategy, technical roadmap, execution and support of SSD based storage infrastructure for all GCE instances.
  • Drive the roadmap, and oversee the smooth execution and delivery of storage-optimized instance family of products and related business outcomes.
  • Own and drive storage offloads strategy and roadmap, as well as its execution across several teams across Google.
  • Engage with and support the global customer base for both storage-optimized instances, as well as any other instances with SSDs attached.
  • Manage, grow, and deliver through a geographically distributed team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience in software engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in SSD storage domain or technologies directly related to storage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with Google Cloud platform or any other major cloud provider.
  • Experience with SSD technology, NVME protocol, and storage offloads in general.
