As a Customer Solutions Engineer, Networking, Google Cloud, you will join an entrepreneurial and rapidly expanding business, playing a pivotal role in understanding customer needs and shaping the future of how businesses utilize technology to connect with stakeholders.
You will be part of a global team providing 24/7 support, helping customers seamlessly transition to Google Cloud. This high-touch, dedicated service focuses on critical customers, anticipating their needs, optimizing product performance, and ensuring success across complex environments. Your work will involve proactive solutions and deep customer-centric supportability, aiming to prevent issues, build trust, and enable continuous growth on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will troubleshoot technical problems through debugging, networking expertise, system administration, documentation updates, and occasional coding/scripting.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers and other support personnel to effectively resolve complex customer issues.
- Reproduce, troubleshoot, and identify the root causes of customer issues, working collaboratively within the team.
- Develop a profound understanding of Google Cloud networking technologies, including their intricate internal implementation details.
- Serve as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders across product engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical issues and drive Google Cloud improvements.
- Contribute as part of a global team of engineers/consultants ensuring 24-hour customer support, which may involve non-standard work hours/shifts and occasional weekend work.
- Enhance support for Google Cloud networking technologies by actively working with product engineering teams.
- Partner with product engineering teams on new product launches and provide customer insights to improve existing products.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience in writing/debugging code in general-purpose languages (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript) and with virtualization and orchestration frameworks.
- Experience with systems, and with Linux, Unix, or a similar operating system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) in public Cloud or SDN software.
- Experience with Kubernetes or container networking.
- Experience with HTTP protocol and HTTP-based APIs, along with Network-specific kernel parameters (e.g., TCP keepalives).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain customer focus and a logical troubleshooting process during outages.
- Consistent application of a systematic, logical troubleshooting methodology for every customer issue.
- Ability to quickly assess customer issues to determine impact, scope, and define next steps for troubleshooting.
