About the Role: Customer Engineer, Platform, Google Cloud
As a Customer Engineer, Platform at Google Cloud, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating digital transformation for leading companies, educational institutions, and government agencies globally. This position involves partnering with technical Sales teams to showcase the unique value of Google Cloud to customers, serving as their primary technical partner and trusted advisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own the technical account plan and strategy, actively supporting sales motions.
- Combine sales, programming, and solutions architecture expertise to demonstrate the value of Google Cloud Platform through complex demos, pilots, and workshops.
- Architect cross-pillar solutions, drive technical wins, and define initial delivery plans for customers, leading the technical engagement through the solution phase.
- Facilitate post-sales transitions, including pricing activities and handing off final delivery plans to implementation teams.
- Maintain awareness of delivery plan progress and provide crucial support to cross-functional teams during ramp-up, delivery, migration, or implementation phases.
What You'll Do
You will engage in deep technical conversations to understand customer business challenges, troubleshoot technical questions, overcome roadblocks, and conduct proofs of concept and demos. Leveraging your expertise, you will architect comprehensive cross-pillar cloud solutions that directly address these challenges. Your role involves driving technical victories and meticulously defining delivery and consumption plans. You will utilize your strategic acumen and presentation skills to engage with both technical and business leaders, delivering practical and impactful solutions on Google Cloud. A core focus will be on identifying, pursuing, and securing new business workloads, leveraging your broad technical expertise across infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics, and more. You will skillfully blend sales expertise, market knowledge, and direct technical engagement to demonstrate the immense value of the Google Cloud portfolio.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
- Experience with cloud engineering, on-premise engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms.
- Proficiency in programming languages, debugging, systems design, prototyping, demos, or customer workshops.
- Proven experience engaging with, or presenting to, technical stakeholders or executive leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience promoting technical solutions in areas such as infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data management, data analytics, cloud AI, networking, migrations, or security.
- Ability to drive the entire sales cycle, from defining delivery and consumption plans to transitioning for execution.
- Track record of building long-term technical strategies to uncover new workloads with customers.
- Experience migrating applications and services to cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with security concepts, including encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and pen testing.
Benefits and Compensation (Washington State)
Google offers a comprehensive benefits package to all eligible US-based employees. For this role, benefits include health, dental, vision, and life/disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, 20 days of vacation per year, 40 hours/year sick time (with 5 discretionary days/event), 28-30 weeks of maternity leave, 18 weeks of baby bonding leave, and 13 paid holidays per year.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$218,000, supplemented by bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, with individual pay influenced by work location and factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
