Job Description

About the Job

Google’s technical infrastructure – its global network of data centers and fiber-optic cables – is the essential foundation powering all our products and AI capabilities across Alphabet. Our team promotes and defends Google’s technical infrastructure story, which includes the community and energy programs that make our infrastructure possible. As part of the Google Cloud Communications team in Global Communications and Public Affairs (GCPA), it’s our job to help inform and educate customers, partners, opinion leaders, and our own employees about the benefits of our products, our company culture and values, and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day.

As a key member of the Google Cloud Communications team, you will work cross-functionally to help shape our communications strategy for Google’s global infrastructure. You will educate the market on the economic, social, and technological benefits of the physical infrastructure powering Google’s products and services around the world, driving stories at the local, regional, and global levels. Additionally, you'll maintain strong relationships with journalists and influencers, develop written materials and campaigns, create new programs, and counter misinformation that interferes with our business and ability to serve our customers and users. A major part of the role is collaborating with executives across the organization, bringing a deep understanding of the technologies and policies impacting the industry today.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives and build relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the global external communications strategy for Google’s infrastructure, including data centers and subsea cables, in high-growth geographic regions.
  • Develop, write, and edit compelling communications materials, including statements, story pitches, and announcements.
  • Be a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to key business partners.
  • Cultivate media and partner relationships to drive awareness, excitement, and factual reporting about Google’s global infrastructure.
  • Manage crisis communications scenarios when necessary.
