On Ads Comms, it's our job to help inform and inspire users, customers, business leaders and key opinion formers about the benefits of Google and YouTube advertising products. The Ads Communications team works within GCPA (Global Communications and Public Affairs). To succeed here, you will combine creativity with organizational skills to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to journalists, bloggers and commentators. As a member of Ads Communications, you will lead global communications for two areas of Google’s advertising business: ads policy and ads privacy. In this role, you will shape Google’s leadership in ads safety and defend our ads policies and enforcement decisions in the press. This includes developing proactive and reactive plans to support policy launches, manage media inquiries and provide counsel on policy changes to the cross-functional Ads and Trust and Safety teams. Additionally, you will manage proactive and reactive communications plans for Google’s ads privacy innovations, such as confidential computing, industry-leading ads privacy practices and personalization policies. You will advise cross-functional teams on product development, launches and policy changes, working with Product, Sales, Marketing, Legal and Government Affairs to develop communications strategies and messaging that aligns with company goals. Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.
  • Experience working in policy or advertising industry.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Understanding of media relationships and digital advertising.
  • Ability to translate complex product launches into simple narratives understandable by business and trade press.
  • Ability to plan and execute on multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead proactive and reactive communications strategies to support policy launches and privacy initiatives across Google’s ads business.
  • Act as a primary contact for journalists and manage media inquiries related to our ads policies, privacy practices and personalization policies.
  • Draft a variety of communications materials, including blog posts, talking points, question and answers, and social media posts, and staff interviews with ads policy and privacy leaders.
  • Work cross-functionally and provide internal counsel on product development, launches and ads policy changes, including preparing reactive comms.
