About The Role of a Technical Program Manager, People & Culture
The Program Management Team (PgM) at Google DeepMind plays a pivotal role in shaping and accelerating the delivery of the organization's highest priorities. This specific position is part of a PgM team that partners with People & Culture (P&C). As such, you will focus on leading programs that involve significant organizational and technical change, directly impacting how Google DeepMind operates and how its people work. This role is a Fixed-Term contract, ending in December 2026.
We are continuously seeking sustainable ways to optimize our work, collaborating closely with P&C and related teams to cultivate an environment that fosters both high collaboration and deep creativity, enabling responsible and groundbreaking research progress at an accelerated pace.

Key Responsibilities of a Technical Program Manager, People & Culture
As a Technical Program Manager in our People & Culture team, you will implement program management methodologies across multiple initiatives. Your focus will be on balancing progress with risk to achieve sustainable change and meet defined objectives. You will:
- Work with HR professionals, engineers, data scientists, and leadership to define project scope, goals, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Collaborate with your team to organize and optimize a portfolio of HR software and data projects, including migrations to new systems and the application of new AI techniques to tools and data.
- Act as the system owner and domain expert for Google DeepMind’s HR tooling and people data stack, understanding system interconnections, Google system interactions, and downstream data usage.
- Develop, maintain, and improve reporting and dashboards based on HR system data.
- Produce user guides, process documentation, and other educational resources.
- Partner with teams across both Google DeepMind and Google to ensure P&C priorities are translated into delivery plans and resources are allocated effectively.
- Work with your team on all aspects of end-to-end project planning and delivery, utilizing project methodologies like stand-ups, retrospectives, and agile boards.
- Clarify, communicate, and drive decisions regarding trade-offs between HR process priorities and HR tooling and data options.
- Effectively translate technical information for non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment.
- Collaborate effectively across international teams and various stakeholders, tracking progress, maintaining documentation, anticipating issues, and proposing solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges, making sound decisions that balance feasibility and project timelines.
- Critically evaluate technical proposals, understanding trade-offs, and assessing solution viability.
- Demonstrate a curious mindset and a commitment to continuous learning within your technical field and the broader AI landscape.

- Passion for AI and proactive learning to enhance domain knowledge.
- Strong technical understanding of HR tools and systems, including platform migration experience.
- Ability to thrive in collaborative environments, bridging engineers and stakeholders toward a shared vision.
- Introductory understanding of SQL, dashboarding, and report generation from raw data.
- Comfort in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, demonstrating ownership and independent project driving.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and high responsiveness to project, team, and group needs.
- Strong communication skills, ability to build meaningful relationships, and influence actions and outcomes.
- Natural problem-solver, identifying root causes of technical challenges for elegant solutions.
- Curiosity and ability to practically and effectively use AI tools, with awareness of responsible AI use, risks, and limitations.
Additionally, the following would be an advantage:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles.
- Product Management experience (direct or close partnership).
