About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Gemini Audio Data Infrastructure team at Google DeepMind, you will be instrumental in advancing generative AI capabilities by focusing on audio data and its underlying infrastructure. Audio is a crucial component of Gemini, powering generative AI across numerous Google products like Gemini Live, Search, YouTube, Cloud, Maps, Meet, and Translate. Google DeepMind is a leading AI research lab dedicated to pushing the boundaries of AI development to address global challenges and accelerate product innovation for billions of users. - Lead the strategic design and end-to-end execution of long-term projects to advance Gemini Audio capabilities and scale foundational data infrastructure.
- Architect and conduct complex experiments by optimizing high-throughput data pipelines and loaders, managing Gemini model training and evaluation cycles.
- Deliver data-driven insights to inform technical strategy and drive the integration of high-impact data enhancements into Gemini’s pre-training and post-training mixtures.
- Ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality data to improve model performance and capabilities.
- Deliver mission-critical initiatives with agility, effectively navigating evolving requirements and time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining high standards of technical excellence and project momentum.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of coding experience in C, C++, Java, or Python.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
- 1 year of experience with state-of-the-art GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, multi-modal, large vision models) or with GenAI-related concepts (language modeling, computer vision).
- Work or educational experience in machine learning or artificial intelligence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
