General Summary
The Workforce Development Specialist at Workforce Development Specialist at Goodwill Industries of Sacramento Valley & Northern is responsible for providing employment preparation, job placement, retention support, and skills training for individuals facing barriers to employment. This role acts as a liaison between job seekers and employers to develop and facilitate employment opportunities while ensuring job seekers receive the necessary coaching and resources to succeed, all while upholding the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized, person-centered service plans.
- Provide employment coaching and skill development training including hard and soft skills.
- Match qualified job seekers with employers and schedule interviews.
- Assist with applications, resume, cover letter preparation, and interview skills.
- Facilitate training programs including workplace etiquette and integration support.
- Maintain strong relationships with employers, community organizations, and referring agencies.
- Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring for retention and career advancement.
- Utilize case management and database tools to document progress and outcomes.
- Collaborate with finance and program teams for reporting and billing accuracy.
- Engage in community outreach, deliver presentations, and share success stories.
- Ensure compliance with laws, CARF standards, and safety regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A candidate should have an Associate’s degree in a related field with at least two years of experience in workforce development or a related area. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems. A background check, drug screening, and reliable transportation are necessary.
Position Information & Work Conditions
This is a full time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan, and paid time off benefits. The position may require physical activity including standing, walking, lifting up to 20 to 50 pounds, and travel to various locations. The work environment is fast-paced with frequent deadlines and occasional high-pressure situations.
