Junior AI Developer/Structurer, Systematic Trading Strategies

Goldman Sachs is seeking a Junior AI Developer/Structurer to join the Systematic Trading Strategies (“STS”) business group in London. This role is crucial for accelerating business growth by developing AI solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce operational risks, improve client experience, and support the creation of innovative investment strategies.

Business Segment and Role Overview

Equities & FICC: We actively make markets in and clear client transactions on major global stock, options, and futures exchanges. Through our extensive global sales force, we foster strong client relationships, facilitating order execution and distributing essential investment research, trading ideas, market information, and comprehensive analysis.

The Systematic Trading Strategies (“STS”) business group is at the forefront of developing indices and strategies for all financial markets traded within FICC and Equities globally. STS provides institutional investors with access to highly sophisticated quantitative investment strategies. Leveraging exceptional infrastructure, the STS team designs systematic indices and strategies across global markets, including Equities, Interest Rates, Credit, FX, and Commodities. These strategies range from pure market access to carry, relative value, hedging, and defensively oriented approaches.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy a diverse range of custom chatbots, built upon cutting-edge foundation models, to significantly streamline various recurring business processes within the STS business.
• Drive substantial efficiency gains through the meticulous implementation of automation solutions, incorporating both traditional automation frameworks and innovative agentic AI systems, across all STS workflows.
• Implement all such AI solutions in strict accordance with the firm’s stringent requirements, applicable internal policies, and robust governance procedures.
• Harness the power of AI to proactively identify promising quantitative investment strategies and to rapidly create functional prototypes for evaluation.
• Develop advanced AI tools specifically designed to assist STS team members in the comprehensive analysis of global financial markets and the generation of relevant, actionable insights.
• Create innovative AI solutions aimed at substantially reducing operational risks inherent in the creation of quantitative investment strategies and in the precise execution of transactions with institutional investors.
• Ensure the ongoing maintenance and continuous enhancement of all previously created AI systems, guaranteeing their optimal performance and relevance.
• Actively advise STS product developers on any potential applications of AI components within quantitative investment strategies, fostering innovation and integration.
• Proactively identify and champion opportunities to deploy impactful AI solutions that consistently add significant value to the business.

Basic Qualifications

• Excellent academic record, holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, in a relevant field such as computer science, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.
• A minimum of 1 year of pertinent professional experience in an AI/ML-focused software development or engineering role.
• Strong programming proficiency demonstrated in an object-oriented or functional paradigm, such as C++, Java, or Python.
• A proven and successful track record of developing, deploying, and diligently maintaining AI/ML solutions within a corporate or production environment.
• A solid understanding of fundamental software engineering best practices, including version control and robust testing methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, essential for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
