Summary
Goldbelt Glacier Health Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Writer to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Planning and Exercise Division (PED). This role focuses on editing, formatting, and developing a variety of technical documents, ensuring clarity, consistency, and full Section 508 compliance. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of strategic and operational plans that enhance FEMA’s disaster and emergency response readiness.
Responsibilities
- Edit and refine technical documents including operational plans, SOPs, needs assessments, and policy papers.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, concise, and compliant with federal writing standards.
- Review content for grammar, clarity, and formatting while ensuring Section 508 accessibility compliance.
- Collaborate with planners, analysts, and subject matter experts to translate technical details into clear content.
- Manage document version control and content updates via shared platforms.
- Assist in developing and formatting planning templates, checklists, and enterprise tools.
- Support production of communication materials for both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Strong writing skills, expertise in Section 508 compliance, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro and adherence to style guides.
Minimum Qualifications: At least three years of experience editing technical documents, proven expertise in Section 508 compliance, and possession of a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with FEMA or similar federal emergency management agencies and familiarity with FEMA doctrine.
Pay and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,000 annually.
