About the Role

The Senior Principal Cybersecurity Engineer role at GM Financial is responsible for overseeing vulnerability management, including identifying, assessing, and prioritizing security vulnerabilities across IT infrastructure, business applications, and cloud environments. The role involves architecting and maintaining scalable detection tools, managing vulnerability scan data, and collaborating on remediation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Support and influence technical direction for vulnerability and scanning technologies.
  • Architect, build and maintain scalable detection rules, alerts, and triage pipelines.
  • Monitor and assess cybersecurity risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct continuous discovery and vulnerability assessment across enterprise assets.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for vulnerability management.
  • Define, apply, and integrate protective mitigations with engineering teams.
  • Interpret complex scan data and provide actionable security recommendations.

Qualifications

Candidates should have extensive experience in cybersecurity, vulnerability scanning tools, risk assessments, and infrastructure management. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of Windows, Linux, Unix vulnerabilities; secure coding practices; threat modeling; and experience with hybrid/multi-cloud environments, DevSecOps, and container security.

Experience & Culture

This role requires a minimum of 12 years experience, strong leadership with mentorship experience, and a record of driving thought leadership and innovation. Work Arrangement
