Location & Work Arrangement

This role is fully remote and must overlap with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours. No visa sponsorship is provided for the U.S. or U.K.

About the Role

As a Senior Product Manager Mobile Operator Data at GiveDirectly, you will lead initiatives related to mobile network operator (MNO) data, driving design, implementation, and scale-up of systems used to identify individuals or communities in need of humanitarian assistance. You will work closely with internal teams and external telecommunications partners while ensuring ethical and privacy compliant data usage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and management of mobile data analysis programs.
  • Partner with telcos and serve as technical lead in negotiations.
  • Provide technical backstop and support for country teams and vendors.
  • Develop and refine mobile data processing pipelines ensuring integrity and privacy.
  • Support operations with data-informed enrollment strategies across crisis settings.
  • Uphold high standards of ethical data use and responsible practices.
  • Contribute to strategy, innovation, and expanding global mobile data capacity.

What You’ll Bring

You should have over 5 years of technical or data-focused experience, ideally in mobile technology, humanitarian tech, data science, or international development. Experience in working with MNOs, managing complex partnerships, and knowledge of data privacy principles is essential. Strong project management, communication skills, and alignment with GiveDirectly’s mission and values are crucial.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with GIS tools, Python, R, and/or SQL.
  • Advanced data science or machine learning experience.
  • Experience in humanitarian response or poverty alleviation work.
  • French language skills.

Compensation and Benefits

GiveDirectly offers competitive and equitable compensation with salaries benchmarked by a third party. The U.S. base salary for this role is $129,000 and the Kenya base salary is $101,221, with full details provided during the hiring process. Benefits include a supportive team environment, robust health benefits, flexible paid time off, and development allowances.
