Role Overview

The Manager, Product Security Engineering leads a team responsible for delivering security capabilities directly integrated into the GitLab platform. Combining software engineering leadership with security expertise, this role drives the vision of being the most secure DevOps platform by bridging product security needs with technical solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive strategy and execution of custom security tooling integration within GitLab.
  • Manage milestone planning and align team efforts with strategic goals.
  • Partner with Product teams to guide security enhancements from concept to implementation.
  • Oversee processes for pilot engineering, integration workflows and automation opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with various security teams.
  • Champion team contributions and communicate impact to all stakeholders.
  • Guide team growth in technical skills and career development.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of software engineering management experience.
  • Strong understanding of software security principles and modern development practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and managing teams using Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks.
  • Proven record in cross-functional project leadership and stakeholder management.
  • Advanced skills in translating complex technical requirements into actionable plans.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in application, infrastructure, or related security domains.
  • Familiarity with GitLab's architecture and contribution to open-source software.
  • Experience with feature incubation and technical roadmaps.
  • Understanding enterprise security needs.

Compensation & Additional Information

The base salary range for this US-based role is $140,000 to $250,000 USD, and additional incentives such as bonus and equity may apply. GitLab operates as a remote-first company but may have specific location-based eligibility.
