An Overview Of This Role

The Manager, Product Security Engineering will lead a critical team responsible for delivering security capabilities through direct contributions to the GitLab platform. This role combines software engineering leadership with security expertise to drive GitLab's vision of being the most secure DevOps platform. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Security Capabilities Engineering, you will guide a team that bridges product security needs with engineering solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive strategy and execution of integrating custom security tooling into GitLab.
  • Manage team's milestone planning aligning immediate and strategic goals.
  • Partner with Product teams from concept through implementation.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with various security teams.
  • Champion the team's work and communicate impact to stakeholders.
  • Guide the team's contributions to GitLab's broader security strategy.
  • Lead and grow a team of security and software engineers.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of software engineering management experience.
  • Strong understanding of software security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with modern software development practices, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Experience managing teams working with Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks.
  • Proven cross-functional project leadership and stakeholder management.

Preferred Experience & Personal Qualities

Experience managing security engineering teams, background in application or infrastructure security, familiarity with GitLab's architecture, and contributions to open-source software projects. Personal qualities include a bias for action, excellent communication, strong relationship building, a data-driven approach, and a commitment to inclusivity.
