An Overview Of This Role

The Manager, Product Security Engineering leads a critical team that delivers security capabilities integrated into the GitLab platform. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Security Capabilities Engineering, you will combine software engineering leadership with deep security expertise to implement, integrate, and enhance security tooling within the product.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive strategy and execution of custom security tooling integration.
  • Manage team milestone planning aligning immediate needs with long-term goals.
  • Partner with Product teams to deliver security enhancements from concept to implementation.
  • Own processes for pilot engineering, integration workflows, and automation initiatives.
  • Communicate team impact to engineering teams and executive leadership.

What You’ll Bring

  • Over 3 years of software engineering management experience.
  • Strong grasp of software security principles and modern development practices.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or similar web frameworks.
  • Proven cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into actionable plans.

Preferred Experience & Personal Qualities

Experience managing security engineering teams, a background in various security domains, familiarity with GitLab's architecture, and a history of developing technical roadmaps are preferred. We value a strong bias for action, excellent communication, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to an inclusive team culture.
