An Overview Of This Role

The Manager, Product Security Engineering leads a team responsible for delivering security capabilities through software engineering. You will combine engineering leadership with deep security expertise to integrate security tooling into the product and build new capabilities that support GitLab’s internal teams and its customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive strategy and execute custom security tooling integration.
  • Manage milestone planning aligning with strategic goals.
  • Partner with Product teams to enhance security from concept to implementation.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with various security teams.
  • Champion team contributions and communicate impact across stakeholders.
  • Guide the team towards contributing to GitLab's broader security strategy.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of software engineering management experience.
  • Strong understanding of security principles and modern software development.
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and web frameworks like Ruby on Rails.
  • Proven track record in cross-functional project leadership.
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into engineering plans.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing security engineering teams on security-focused projects.
  • Background in application, infrastructure security or related domains.
