An Overview Of This Role
As an Intermediate Site Reliability Engineer at GitLab, you will keep production systems running smoothly and build infrastructure platforms for engineering teams. You will blend operational discipline with software craftsmanship to automate tasks, manage incidents, and drive efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable networking infrastructure for GitLab platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to evolve incident management processes.
- Respond to incidents during designated on-call periods.
- Lead projects from problem definition through execution.
- Automate operational tasks and maintain robust incident followup processes.
What You’ll Bring
- Expertise in AWS or GCP networking and scaling.
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Proven history in production incident response.
- Strong understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and DNS.
- Independent, proactive, and strong communication skills.
Nice To Have
- Experience with network observability and traffic analysis tools.
- Familiarity with the Kubernetes ecosystem and Helm.
- Programming or scripting skills in Ruby, Go, or Bash.
- Knowledge of GitLab CI or equivalent tools.
