Medical Assistant at GI Alliance
GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant I. This position involves both clinical and administrative duties, assisting physicians with patient care and managing clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. The role is designed to help patients fully utilize and benefit from our clinical services.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Patient Care: Assist physicians with patient care, including scheduling, patient flow, assisting with transfers and procedures, collecting specimens, preparing patients for exams, taking patient history, checking vital signs, performing screenings, assisting providers, charting, phone triage, medication administration, and relaying instructions to patients and families.
- Clerical Duties: Manage patient medical records (sending and receiving), obtain necessary reports and referral information, complete forms and requisitions, schedule appointments, handle patient check-in and check-out, verify insurance coverage and demographics, and maintain and update patient charts.
- Organizational Duties: Respect and promote patient rights, respond to emergency codes, and report any patient or staff-related issues to the immediate supervisor.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited institution, or relevant college courses.
- Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented externship completion. Experience in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.
- Level I Status: Entry-level (1-4 years of experience) requiring some supervision, or over 4 years of experience with the same level of supervision.
