Role Overview
We are hiring for one of our clients seeking a FreeCAD Expert with strong BIM and IFC expertise to lead parametric building modeling projects. This role is ideal for experienced AEC professionals who can manage structured 3D building models while ensuring interoperability, documentation quality, and production-ready deliverables. You will execute end-to-end parametric modeling workflows in FreeCAD, focusing on BIM methodologies and IFC data management. The role includes structuring building models, validating interoperability, and documenting modeling decisions to maintain high technical standards across projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full parametric 3D modeling projects in FreeCAD from concept through final deliverables.
- Develop BIM-compliant building models (walls, slabs, structural elements, assemblies).
- Import, export, and validate IFC data to ensure interoperability with external BIM/CAD platforms.
- Manage constrained sketches, parametric model trees, and structured project files.
- Produce technical drawing sets and export deliverables (IFC, STEP, STL, DXF, etc.).
- Apply BIM best practices for data organization and model coordination.
- Document modeling strategies, interoperability considerations, and workflow decisions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to maintain project quality.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced hands-on experience with FreeCAD across complex parametric projects.
- Strong understanding of BIM methodologies and IFC standards.
- Practical experience structuring building models for interoperability.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD workflows and familiarity with AutoCAD or comparable platforms.
- Experience preparing models and documentation for AEC or manufacturing contexts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and structured problem-solving ability.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote contract environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, or construction.
- Experience contributing to open-source CAD/BIM communities or developing custom tools.
- Familiarity with cross-platform BIM workflows and coordination processes.
- Exposure to CAM or digital fabrication workflows.
