Overview

This Senior Quality Software Test Automation Engineer role at General Motors focuses on high quality web and mobile products using automated and manual testing. The role requires expertise in BrowserStack and other testing tools in a hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automation Development: Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts using BrowserStack, Selenium/Appium, and more.
  • API & Integration Testing: Utilize Insomnia and ReadyAPI for API testing and back-office integration validation.
  • Quality Assurance Leadership: Develop test plans, enforce quality standards and mentor junior engineers.
  • Cross-Platform Testing: Test on multiple browsers and mobile devices, integrating tests in CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Defect Tracking: Identify, log, and track defects using JIRA and conduct performance testing with Apache JMeter.
  • Collaboration: Work with product managers, developers and QA teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years in software testing focused on API, mobile, and web applications.
  • Expertise in automated testing tools such as BrowserStack and Perfecto.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience developing automated tests for web and mobile applications.
  • Certifications in quality assurance or test automation.

Additional Information

This is a hybrid role requiring attendance at one of our key locations (Warre, MI; Austin, TX; Mountain View, CA) at least three times a week. The position does not include relocation benefits and does not offer immigration sponsorship.
